My journey as the club head has taught me many things. I was the head of the Public Relations Club of SCMS-H PRACHAR for nine months. Reflecting on my tenure as the club head I realize that many factors and situations have taught me many things. It was a transformative experience that I got to experience for the first time in my life. From navigating challenges to achieving success, my journey has been a rollercoaster of emotions, growth, and self-discovery.
When I first took on the role it was around February this year, I was very excited and nervous at the same time leading a team for the first time in my life. Before taking up this role I led a group of people along with my friend for a reel-making competition’ Frame Fusion’ In January this year. Working on that activity made me understand how much responsibility a leader holds when he/she leads a team/group of people. The first Activity was ‘Rhetorical Rumble’ a debate competition that was conducted in April. It was a truly hands-on experience for me as a head, doing the research work along with the club members, searching for the topics, and discussing how and where to conduct the activity a lot of work was done and at one point I was overwhelmed with the idea of making the event a success. The same goes for the other events like Background Blitz.
There were many challenging situations that I had to face. every step had to be taught thoroughly as this holds a lot of responsibility and expectations from people. Many people would think that being the head is a power but it is the opposite a huge responsibility that needs to be carried out. I have learned how to write proposals for events, and reports and assign work to people. we also need to be as understanding as possible with people and their situations, know the student’s interests, and based on that activities would be planned. There were many nights that the role became a burden to me at some points but I got through it. There were times I was held responsible for things which is one of many that will come up with this role. But throughout my experience, I had many great lessons taught and this would be one of the experiences I would cherish and share with people in the future. Of course, conflicts and self-doubt crept in but I had a great learning in problem-solving, decision making
Leading the club was a journey of self-discovery, Growth, and learning, had taught me to trust my instincts and thoughts and surround myself with trusted people to make a task a success. I encourage others to embark on similar paths, embracing the challenges and rewards that come with leadership but also understanding the responsibilities that a particular position would be holding instead of a power.
