Growing Up

Morrow dangles with green —

A hope, a wish, a dream;

To watch your parents preen,

Their joy impressed upon you like sunbeam.

On the brink of adulthood,

Yet enchanted by little things,

Like this is a never-ending childhood;

As if convinced age never clings.

Oh, to be a kid again —

No worries, no tension, only schoolwork

Handed out to retain,

Through which we learnt the meaning of ‘shirk.’

Morrow dangles with green —

And we sit, ambitious, nervous,

For Fortuna to have us be seen,

And we work, hard and torturous.
