Coreopsis bloom in the heat,
Always cheerful and bright,
Like a child’s laughter or
A dog’s wagging tail.
We take a mindful seat,
Gazing at the golden sight,
Aware of what this season is for —
Mangoes, holidays, and all the adventures to scale.
Sent home packing from education,
We collectively sigh in relief,
Lose ourselves to time to find ourselves,
In hobbies and people and peace.
Life is but one — take a vacation.
Work hard, but have this belief —
Letting yourself rebuild through summer elves
Is but maintenance to help us not crease.
